Foundation switch

I wear wear foundation just about every single day. Lately I’ve been taking a slightly different approach with my skin care. I use a facial brush by Sephora that has two side: one with a brush side and the other with pink tiny plastic bristles. This brush really exfoliates my face. My skin always looks clean after washing with the brush and rinsing. Because of this brush, I have no rush to go out and buy the infamous Clairsonic brush. I’m sure that it works wonderfully, but I’m having issues paying the money for it. The products I use to wash, tone and moisturize are the Aveda Botanical Kinetics line for Oily Skin.  I love that all of the products have a pump…more sanitary!!! Since I’ve been using these products and the brush, my skin looks close to what it did before I started wearing makeup. And because of that, I came to the realization saying to myself  “Why do I wear foundation every day?” So I made my way to the NARS boutique in the city and purchased their new Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. I was kinda excited when I first heard of it and was waiting for it’s release. So far I’ve only seen it in Sephora stores, however it’s not on their website yet.

This is what I purchased:

Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer and Larger Than Life Long Wear Eyliner in Abbey Road

I went to the boutique with no makeup on my face except lipstick. I’m not a fan of my lips being bare, when I wear no makeup on my face. I wanted to get a color match for the TM. The MA matched me to the shade “Cuba” (medium 3). Nice match too. It leaves my skin looking glowy, but I know I have to apply a blot powder to my T-zone to control the oilies. It feels like my skin and my skin feels nice and soft. Here’s how it looks on my skin. (I didn’t use any powder, so excuse the oily look):

I also applied the stick concealer in Caramel. It’s a great shade and I’ll come back for it.

So, from now on I’ll be wearing tinted moisturizer just to give my skin a break from wearing a foundation. I go through these phases ever so often. I’ll do a look tomorrow using these products. Since the eyeliner is a gorgeous shade of blue, I’ll use a brown eye shadow to match with the color of the eye liner. Can’t wait! 🙂

      • Thank God I only got a sample LOL! I was in a hurry that day & even told her that I wear Cadiz in their other foundations (assuming it would make it easier to match me if she knew my shade in other foundations) and she still got it wrong. I wonder sometimes how some of these people get hired at counters when they can’t even match people with the right foundation/concealer/whatever for their skin tone.

      • Okay, I have a small update! Today, I noticed the throughout the day, my TM turned a little reddish/orangish. 😦 I don’t know what happened. I wonder if the bronzer made it look that way. I know Cuba is described as medium skin with a mixture of yellow and peach, but it doesn’t look that way when swatched on the hand and it didn’t look like that when I wore it all day yesterday. :-/ Maybe I applied too much, this time. It could be the colors I used on my lips and eyes. Sometimes some colors make my foundation look off.

In terms of the folks at the counters, I know exactly what you mean. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been matched to the WRONG shade. I knew it was wrong, when I looked in the mirror and they would say to me “That looks perfect!!!” If you continue to not have any luck with the TM, Tarte came out with a new one. I was going to check out that one, too.
