Since today’s schedule for me was starting later, I planned to wake up later…of course I didn’t. Don’t you hate when that happens? You plan to sleep in a little late, but wake up much earlier. Such is life, LOL.
I started off this day by attending Ren’s (Makeup by Ren Ren) seminar talking about Bridal Beauty. She’s a spokesperson for Graftobian makeup, mostly known for their foundations. She totally made me want to get the foundations. I didn’t have enough money, so I couldn’t do it. Graftobian has soooooo many shades of foundation! I love that they’re so pigmented, that you don’t have to use a lot of the product. I’m going to invest in some in the future.
The last seminar I attended was makeup artist, Sutan Amrull’s entitled “Thinking Outside the Box”! He talked about how he got started as a makeup artist and his life, while doing avant garde makeup. He was a makeup artist for “America’s Next Top Model”. It makes complete sense because what he did to his model totally resembles what is done for the ANTM photo shoots. He’s such a funny guy, too! I saw makeup artist, Johnny Lavoy sitting in the audience. I was taken aback by this. I thought that was so nice and humbling. It’s good to see people who don’t consider themselves to be “too good” to learn from and support others. That made my heart feel warm.
I also learned pointers from his seminar. I’ll share some of the ones that stuck out:
- Learn to have the basics. You don’t have to have every product. <— I WISH I was told this years ago. Would’ve saved me tons of money.
- “Don’t be a slave to the product, be a slave to the art.” <— Good one!
- He also mentioned that Matthew Anderson does RuPaul’s makeup.
Here’s some pics from Sutan Amrull’s seminar:
Okay, and that basically wraps it up for my Makeup Show posts! How did I like it? I loved it, of course. I had fun, as usual. However, this year felt so…different. Although I thought of many reasons why it felt that way, I still can’t put my finger on why it’s different. My personal pros of the Makeup Show is me attending more seminars instead of just walking around purchasing makeup. My personal con is completely forgetting my plan for this Makeup Show. I was supposed to save money specifically to purchase more brushes from Hakuhodo. I swear that these are probably THE most awesome brushes ever. I purchased only two eye shadow brushes, and I’ve been using them since. They are amazing and blend eye shadow like a dream! Next time, I really need to think about what I’m purchasing and to make a good list with tons of thought behind it….but you live and you learn, right?!
I’ve accumulated quite much from this show in total, so I’m not really able to take a picture of everything, LOL. LAWDY!!! Just know that I have a lot of goodies. I will surely be talking about the products I purchased from this show in future posts, because I’ve already started using them and I have plans to use others in the future. Can’t wait!
This was a good experience to FINALLY attend the Blogger Preview, to reconnect with (and meet for the first time) other beauty bloggers, purchase items and attend the seminars. I will surely be doing the same next year. 🙂
