It’s that time, again!!!
It’s been time, but anyway… I have used so many products since my last favorites post, but obviously….there’s some that I’ve gravitated to way more than others. Let’s start with makeup!
I’ve mentioned before that my skin has been acting funny whenever I apply my former favorite foundations to my face (NARS, Make Up For Ever, etc.)…but I still wanted some kind of coverage. I came upon a company called Sterling Minerals after doing a Google search for mineral foundations. I’ve worn mineral foundations in the past, but I wasn’t 100% satisfied. It usually didn’t last and the color choices were poor…especially for darker skin tones. This company has it right! The quality of this foundation is great and it comes in 21 shades. Mine is Xantha which is for yellow/olive skin, as you can see in the above photo. You guys already know about my gripe with foundations not catering to my undertones, so this was a very nice surprise! As soon as I got the sample back in January, I KNEW it was for me. This has no adverse reactions on my skin whatsoever, so I’ve been wearing this since I received the sample. I will do a separate (and more detailed) post about the products I’ve purchased this company in the very near future, so stay tuned!
Another item from Sterling Minerals company! Their blushes are actually quite lovely. As I’ve stated before, I’m usually not pleased with the quality of mineral items but this blush is nice. What I love is that you only need a little of it (due to it’s high pigmentation) so this will last you a long time. The colors are beautiful and they last all day. No irritation whatsoever.
I love using this to control the oil on my T-Zone. It can also be used as a night treatment (especially for acne prone, rosacea and other skin conditions) however I use it on top of my foundation to keep the oils at bay. It doesn’t make my skin look powdery. It smells great, too. LOL.
I’ve lovin’ these lipsticks…from the quality, to the consistency, to the colors…and the price!!! The price and quality is what made me keep coming back. I think I think like the texture of this much better than Coloured Raine matte lip paints.
And now onto skin care!
My goal for 2016 was to have a real skin care regimen. I’ve been pretty lazy when it comes to treating my skin well and I didn’t want to pay for it severely, so I got the ball rolling! Here’s what I’ve been using:
I’ve just started getting into Paula’s Choice products and I’m loving them so far. I’ve purchased several products (caught the sales just in the nick of time!), but in this post I will only speak about what I’ve used the longest. This cleanser pictured above is pretty much what my skin needed. It cleanses well, doesn’t leave a residue and doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry. I honestly don’t see myself using any other cleanser after this. LOL
This is also a nice product. It doesn’t leave my skin stripped and removes any impurity that may have been left behind (if there’s any.) It helps keep my skin balanced after being cleansed.
I use this as my daytime moisturizer, since it has SPF. Can you believe this is my first SPF moisturizer, ever? Yes, I know…shame on me. This is another well-formulated product. It is a light consistency that moisturizes my skin yet doesn’t leave any residue. I just love it.
I use this either after I tone or use this right after cleansing my skin (if I skip using a toner). I swear this stuff has been keeping my skin smooth and even-toned. I have a spot near both sides of my nose that looks like it “erupted” (for a lack of a better word). It comes ever so often. I think it’s simply clogged pores. This product has calmed down those spots and made the texture of that area like the rest of my face. I can’t wait to see how my face ends up looking after months have passed (since it’s still kind of early).
I use this to apply my mineral foundation using the Moist Method. It works quite well. I just simply spritz the bristles of the brush with the toner, dip the bristles into the minerals and then apply it to my face. I poured the toner in this bottle to spray onto the brush. I also use it to set my foundation and also if it looks like it may appear a little dry. I’m not sure if I will repurchase, not because isn’t good (because it is) but because I can also use distilled water or my rosewater.
Man, I’ve been experiencing some serious dryness with my lips…even to the point of the corners of my mouth cracking. This was yet another product on sale (Score!) so I scooped it up and my lips are pretty much getting back to “normal”. I even have to use this at night before I go to sleep.
And now the body products! Here we go!
Since I’ve gotten my first bikini wax (eeeeek!) I’ve been using this. I received this along with an exfoliating cloth (which I really like) and a few cleansing wipes as a package for my first time. ‘Might be TMI, but whenever I remove hair from that area, it grows back…in a not so cute way. ‘BUT this lotion has reduced that GREATLY. I’m very thankful that I came across this product, so that I don’t have to worry about this problem anymore.
Dr. Bronner’s Hemp Tea Tree Pure Castile Soap
This is an old favorite. I’ve been using this to wash my locs and I’ve also used this to wash my body. This is primarily for my locs, though. A little goes a long way.
I’ve been using this on my locs and this keeps it feeling refreshed and surprisingly moisturized! One time my scalp was doing some annoying itching and I simply sprayed this on my scalp and it felt amazing! No more itchies!!! It’s also wonderful for the skin, when it also needs to be refreshed. I use the brand pictured and I also use this one.
Natural oils: Vitamin E Oil (from any store) and Coconut Oil (from Tropical Traditions)
I’ve used both oils on my hair and the coconut one also on my scalp. I usually mix the Vitamin E oil with the rosewater and that combination gives my hair such beautiful moisture.
And lastly, the tools!:
Jumbo Flat Top Brush
I use this to apply my foundation. The bristles are soft and they apply and blend mineral foundation like a dream. It picks up the product beautifully. Most mineral foundation companies sell this brush.
Chubby Blender Brush
I use this to apply foundation as a concealer on spots that need more coverage. The denseness of this brush is what makes the application more concentrated. Very good! I wonder how this works applying foundation all over the face, but I’m not sure if it would work…but we shall see.
I also love this brush to apply foundation. The bristles are also soft so they don’t scratch our precious skin, causing irritation! For the price, it works quite well! I was sleeping on EcoTools. I won’t, now!
So these are the products I’ve been lovin’ lately!!! I seriously don’t want to go close to another year without making a favorite post. It’s best to make one every two months. So stay tuned for the next one.
